Project Description

The Starkey X project was an exploration in ways to have new, phone-connected, hearable devices with the ability to be upgraded into fully-functioning hearing aids by the consumer. We wanted an app-based interface to provide all the functions needed to control the devices - from interface to firmware upgrading. 

Some overview requirements:

• One Starkey hearable device with both hearable and hearing aid functionality 
• User-initiated firmware upgrade
• Modern, hearable form factor – eliminates hearing aid stigma
• Hearing test and “Best Fit” sequence to customize fitting and recommend upgrade
• Subscription model via in-app purchase
• Utilize EEG technology, when available, to automate hearing test
